Web guiding and web tension control with comprehensive networking

From April 18 to 21, INDEX will again be taking place in Geneva, where Erhardt+Leimer GmbH will be presenting its solutions for web guiding and web tension control in the field of nonwovens production and processing, as well as its EL.NET networking concept.

Wide band sensor especially for highly transparent materials

The digital wide band sensor FR 65 "Blue Light" is particularly suitable for detecting the precise position of homogeneous, highly transparent materials, for example film. With a measuring range of 160 mm, 320 mm or 480 mm, the sensor is suitable for all typical web widths without the need for manual repositioning. The sensor can scan up to 4 web edges in narrow web applications.

The wide band sensor uses the transmitting light principle. With its short-wave blue light source and the inclination of the sensor, an optimal contrast difference is achieved, especially with highly transparent films. The system offers a large measuring range with high resolution and compensates for external influences such as external light and contamination.

The interface to the E+L EL.NET system is based on PoE (Ethernet) to ensure maximum data transmission rates. Diagnostic functions inform about status, warnings and alarms with regards to Industry 4.0. An integrated web server provides access for complete configuration, diagnostics and service via a standard web browser.

E+L web guiders are I 4.0-ready

The DRB pivoting frame series offers all the benefits of networking, from brushless small web guiders through to large pivoting frame systems, as if from a single source. All the components of the DRB series are networked using Ethernet and form their own network.

Besides the rapid and transparent data exchange within the system, this data is  available for Industry 4.0 applications. In principle, Erhardt+Leimer has let itself be guided by the open architecture and offers this benefit irrespective of the hardware and software. This means that the user can access the system using standard terminals with a browser to make settings or simply operate it. The precondition is simply access via the machine or the Intranet of the user. In addition, this E+L technology offers real Plug & Play functionality.

Web tension measurement and control

E+L will also be exhibiting the product range for web tension control, including the DC 62 web tension controller and the PA 62 web tension measuring amplifier, which can be networked with the machine in the same way as the components for web guiding. Customer benefits include the dual-channel measuring amplifier and the LCD display for showing the actual web tension value, a trend curve or the respective individual values for the left and right sides of the web. Alarm functions on exceeding limit values, which can be configured individually, are naturally included.
